Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior political figure commented the incident made him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
